Who we are

We are a group of eight volunteers — all former J&J UK colleagues — who care deeply about the pension community. Like many of you, we are pensioners or members with deferred benefits in the J&J Care Pension Scheme (formerly Plan 35).

We are independent, unpaid, and committed to doing what is right for members. Our focus is on clarity, fairness, and making sure your voice is heard.

In simple terms:
We are former colleagues looking out for one another, making sure members are informed and that important decisions affecting the scheme do not go unnoticed.

Why we exist

The J&J Care Pension Scheme is closed, but your interests still matter. Decisions about funding, governance, and benefits can still affect pensioners and deferred members. We formed this voluntary association to provide a clear, independent voice for members.

  • Represent pensioners and deferred members in discussions and concerns.
  • Promote fairness and transparency in how the scheme is run and communicated.
  • Monitor scheme decisions and communications that may affect members.
  • Provide updates and guidance in plain, understandable language.
  • Give members a collective voice rather than leaving individuals on their own.

Our goal is simple: to make sure members are informed, supported, and heard.

Pension Changes Summary (2026)

This summary explains why the J&J UK Pensions Voluntary Association was formed in 2026 and why members should pay close attention to governance changes and the reported £484 million scheme surplus.

What members are concerned about:
  • Governance changes made through multiple legal documents over several years.
  • Members not directly involved in discussions about the growing scheme surplus.
  • Some pre‑1997 pensioners receiving no pension increase for 11 years.
  • Decisions before April 2027 may shape how future surplus funds are used.

££££ While the scheme moved from deficit to a £484m surplus, the spending power of pre‑1997 pensioners fell significantly ££££

What the Association wants:
  • Greater transparency over pension governance.
  • Fair treatment for pensioners affected by inflation.
  • Member representation in decisions involving surplus funds.
  • A stronger collective voice before key legislative changes take effect.

What we’re working on

The Association focuses on practical, member‑centred work. We keep an eye on developments and highlight what matters most to you.

  • Reviewing scheme communications and key decisions.
  • Monitoring governance and funding updates.
  • Supporting members with questions and concerns.
  • Raising awareness among former J&J colleagues.
  • Building a stronger, more connected pension community.
